Sharing Garden Happenings

There is a lot going on in the garden. Today (June 26th) was the first harvest of the season!

Thirteen pounds of Beet greens, Swiss Chard, Basil, Carrot greens, Spinach, and Michihili Chinese Cabbage were taken to the ICA Food Shelf.

The beans are thinking about flowering. The tomatoes are loading up with fruit. The potatoes are setting tubers. The summer squashes are flowering and have fruit likely ready to start harvesting this week. Daily bug checks are underway with the discovery of two Japanese Beetles but no squash pests, yet. The cabbage started by The Gathering team is starting to head. Check out the zinnias, calendula, borage, and buckwheat in bloom! Rutabagas, Turnips, Leeks, Onions, Kohlrabi, Carrots, Beets, Peppers, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Butternut Squash, Red Salvia, Sunflowers, Morning Glory, Nasturtiums, Popcorn, Cucumbers, Herbs, and Rhubarb round out the variety this season.
