Oak Knoll Christian Preschool & Childcare - September 2023

In August our child care children completed the Soccer Shots program with coach Sarah. Throughout the program the children learned basic soccer skills while building their self-confidence. Soccer shots also taught us how to be a good teammate and to cheer for our friends. In August we said goodbye to Intern Pastor Ben, who shared God’s love through music with our children weekly in our summer chapel series called Jammin’ with Jesus. Mid-month, our staff met to recertify in pediatric first aid and to review program policies and procedures. We also had the opportunity to have guest trainers come and present on topics such as behavior guidance and preschool screening and referrals. This was also a time for fellowship as we worked together to set up our classrooms to welcome new and returning students for preschool and child care.

We will hold our preschool open house visits in early September where we invite all families to come meet their child’s teachers and tour the classroom. We will kick off our preschool year on September 11th, with 40 students attending and 10 staff. We still have a few preschool openings available for fall, if you are interested in learning more about our program and scheduling options, please contact Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.

In September we will focus on building relationships with the children and families in our program. We will be settling into our new routine and exploring our classrooms, all while making new friends. We will be starting Chapel with Pastor Jay and Vicar Bryce in the coming weeks. The Owls will also be joining the Gathering group this fall for a time of multi-generational fellowship, where our young learners will be sharing music and stories with our senior friends.

For the month of September, our program is highlighted as Oak Knoll’s Ministry Partner. We would love to be able to add new classroom materials for our new and returning children. Our teachers have worked together to create a fun and welcoming learning environment and have contributed to a wish list for their classrooms. If you wish to make a monetary donation towards our program or a donation from our Amazon wish list, we would greatly appreciate it! Find our wish list at https://a.co/hH24yPW.

We are blessed to be in a community that supports our young learners and our mission to help children grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively.
