Beacon Housing Update - March 2026

In a continuing effort to keep the congregation informed on the issue of affordable housing, the Oak Knoll Beacon Housing Committee likes to share relevant housing articles, information and events. The following message is from the a January Beacon rally titled "Faith in Home."

Over 300 Beacon supporters rallied to advocate for affordable and supportive housing in Minnesota. Six Beacon Oak Knoll members were in attendance.

This is Beacon's concern: "With the uncertainty of federal funding, we must decide as a state how to protect, grow, and transform our proven solutions to homelessness. We need a "bridge to the future" by calling for decisive local and state action to stabilize residents and infrastructure. Together, we will protect current homes and transform our system into a resilient, modern model for the decade ahead."

In 2025, the Legislature appropriated $63 million for the state share of Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services. While the HHS program was eliminated due to fraud, the critical need for housing stability remains. Beacon is asking the Legislature to preserve the full $63 million in the fiscal year 2026 budget specifically for housing stability to fill the gaps created by federal cuts.

Minnesota has the solution. We only need the leadership to protect it..
