Last month our preschool friends were busy learning about the season of fall by studying apples, pumpkins, leaves, acorns and spiders. The Owl classroom spent time learning about spiders while creating spiders out of playdoh, pipe cleaners and wiggly eyes. Our young friends in the Ladybug classroom investigated different colored leaves, acorns and pinecones while learning about fall. The Butterfly classroom spent time learning about pumpkins through various art and science experiences. All classrooms ended the month dressing up in costumes and participating in classroom pumpkin parties.
In November we look forward to meeting with families for parent-teacher conferences and sharing the wonderful things we are doing in preschool. This is also an opportunity for us to connect with families and work on goal setting for the school year.
Also looking ahead this month, the children will learn about giving and being thankful. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with our Butterfly and Owl classrooms. The children will help prepare a “feast,” that we will share in the classroom with our friends. The Owl classroom will continue meeting with the Gathering Group and connecting with our senior friends through music and stories.
We are also looking for an additional staff person to join our team of teachers in the afternoons. We are ideally looking for someone that would be available to work 12-5pm or from 3-5pm a few afternoons a week. Experience is not required, but the perfect candidate must meet DHS requirements. We will provide mentorship and training for this position. If you know of someone that might be a good fit for our preschool staff, or you are interested in learning about the position, please contact Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
