April was a busy month for our preschool and child care friends. We celebrated Easter in chapel and in our classrooms by making colorful crosses and having Easter Egg hunts. In April, the Ladybug classroom learned about bugs and enjoyed reading Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The Butterfly classroom kept busy reading and celebrating Eric Carle’s stories and learning about caterpillars and butterflies. The Owl classroom learned about weather and spring with various art projects. All the classrooms were busy creating art for our coming art show and Spring Sing in May. In between snow showers, we had 1,400 pounds of sand delivered to our playground along with new sand toys.
In May we will celebrate our wonderful staff with teacher appreciation week. Our preschool board has fun surprises planned throughout the week. In addition, the children are working with their parents to create a book of thanks that we will give to the teachers. They deserve to be recognized and appreciated for all their hard work.
Also this month, we will wrap up our preschool school year with special activities planned for the children the last week of school. This school year seemed to have gone quickly. We wish our friends that are kindergarten bound good luck, we will miss you. We will be welcoming a few new families in June and say goodbye to some of our kindergarten bound friends.
Thank you for participating in our Gerten’s Plant Sale fundraiser! Plants will be delivered on April 29th in the afternoon. As we approach the delivery date, an email will be sent with more details about pick up options. We are still looking for volunteers to help with sorting plants and filling orders on delivery day. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kathryn Glorvick at email@example.com. This has always been a fun opportunity to work outside and meet other families! We will especially need volunteers this year as we sold $6,858.60 worth of plants! Last year we sold $4,820.90. Thank you for supporting OKCP through this fundraiser!
