February was a busy month for our preschoolers. All classrooms celebrated Valentine’s Day by sharing Valentine cards, having a special snack and creating heart-themed art.
Also in February, the classrooms learned about community helpers through various hands-on activities and dramatic play centers. We were fortunate to have a pediatric dentist and pediatrician visit our program and share with the children ways to keep our bodies and teeth healthy.
We look forward to welcoming March and the season of spring! We will start out the month with the Lowry Nature Center coming to visit our program and share information with the children about animals native to Minnesota. The Lowry Nature Center will be performing a puppet show and brining live animals for the children to see. In March we will also hold parent-teacher conferences. This is a time for us to connect with families and review goals from fall and celebrate each child’s success.
We are also looking forward to welcoming spring with our annual Gertens Plant Sale Fundraiser. For all plant orders, our program received 30% of the total sales. Our fundraiser is now open and will close on April 1st. If you are interested in purchasing plants, you go to gertensfundraising.com and enter the store code 36. Plants will be delivered to Oak Knoll on Saturday, May 18th. This month we will also begin registering our current families for summer Stay and Play options that begin in June and will go through early August.
We are continuing to enroll new families for preschool and child care for fall. We have part-time and full-time options for children ages 2/3 years old and we have preschool only options open for children 4/5 years old. If you are interested in learning about our preschool options, please contact Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
