In May, we celebrated Spring with our Spring Sing and Art Show. This was a well-attended event that showcased all of our students’ artwork and their talents.
We also welcomed a group called Science Explores Inc. for an in-house field trip. Science Explores is a local group of educators that teach science units for preschool age through middle school. Our theme for the field trip was chemistry, where we had fun experimenting with different substances and noting their reactions.
Our school year ended with spirit week, where children and staff participated in fun daily activities such as p.j. day, sports day, and wacky day. The children enjoyed a special end of the year treat and we presented families with end of the year books.
In May we also celebrated our amazing teachers. Members of the preschool board and current families teamed up to plan a week of surprises for our staff. We enjoyed breakfast at school, iced coffee, chair massages, gift cards, flowers and lunch catered in.
We are grateful for our 2022-2023 school year. We welcomed 42 children to our program in September for preschool and/or childcare. Out of the 42 children, 18 were new to our program. Many friendships were formed with children and families in our community. We were blessed to have weekly chapel with Pastor Jay and Mr. Ben, and our Owl classroom resumed meeting the Gathering group twice monthly. The end of the school year is always bittersweet, since we are proud of the work and accomplishments we have made with the children, however it means change. Many of our children will be attending kindergarten in the fall.
This summer, we will continue helping with the sharing garden and having weekly themes for art and activities. We are also excited to begin Soccer Shots, where a soccer coach will come to our school weekly and teach basic soccer skills and how to be a team player to our young learners. Our soccer program will go throughout the summer. In June we will also begin “Jammin’ with Jesus,” with Mr. Ben, where we will celebrate being a child of God through music and dance.
Looking ahead, we are still enrolling families for preschool for fall. We have several different scheduling options available. If you are interested in learning more about our program, please reach out to Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
