In June we welcomed a few new families to our program for childcare and said goodbye to a few of our kindergarten bound friends. We also welcomed Sela Myers to our program, she is a high student that will be working with us this summer as a classroom aide. Also in June, we kicked off summer with Soccer Shots. Soccer Shots is a program that visits schools and childcare facilities onsite and teaches basic soccer skills and concepts such as respect and teamwork. Our children will meet weekly with our Soccer Shots coach until the end of August. Also last month, our older childcare classrooms joined in VBS for music worship and all of our classrooms participated in Jammin’ with Jesus with Intern Ben.
Last month we also enjoyed visiting the sharing garden and observing new plants growing. Our friends have helped water our planter boxes on the field and are excited to try our garden veggies for snack. The children also kept cool playing with the sensory tables filled with water and water toys, along with jumping through the sprinkler. In July, we will continue with our summer of fun learning about zoo animals, forest animals, and diving into fairy tales. We will also continue with our Fun Friday sessions for our young learners in the Ladybug classroom.
Looking ahead, we still have open preschool and childcare spots for children ages 2-5 with different scheduling options available. Our school year begins September 11th, with classroom open houses scheduled the week before school. If you are interested in learning about our program, please reach out to Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
