We had a busy agenda for the August council meeting.Â
Â
After several months of work, the church’s emergency plan has been reviewed by the Minnetonka Fire Department and finalized by staff. The council discussed the importance of disseminating this information to the congregation. An information meeting was held after services and August 17th. All were invited to attend.Â
Clay Haapala worked hard to review best practices for communications with ICE should they attempt to enter our church or preschool. He has reviewed these best practices with staff and provided them with resources, so they know how to proceed. Thanks, Clay!
Â
The council reviewed the bid received for the repair of the EIFIS, the bid was accepted, and we voted to move forward with the project. We have money from several memorials that will cover a good portion of the project, with the remainder being funded by our dedicated property fund. The project could begin as early as mid-September.
Â
We also reviewed the bid to improve the cabinet and desk spaces in our main office. We accepted the bid and voted to proceed with this project. Work to be completed sometime this fall.
Â
Sunday, August 24th, we said goodbye to our Vicar Jennifer Schneider. It has been an honor and a pleasure to watch her grow in her ministry over the past year. We wish her the best as she awaits her first call and know she has many gifts to bring to her next congregation.
Â
The week of September 2nd, we will welcome our new Vicar Chantal Branker. We are excited to meet her and to spend the next year with her!
Â
That brings our summer to a close. Looking forward to seeing all of you in worship this fall!
Â
Warmly,
Marget Schmidtke, Council President
