The 2024 Sharing Garden was filled with abundance! We were blessed with much needed rainfall throughout the season and temperatures that allowed for most plants to flourish. With the mild winter we were able to plant spinach and lettuce very early for an early April harvest. The planting, growing, and harvesting of a large variety of vegetables continued through mid-October. There were a few struggles with rabbits, squirrels, and deer but the insects cooperated! Plenty of bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and finches added to the gardening joy. And the fun, startling appearance of garden snakes hiding in the beans and sweet potatoes caused a few squeals and giggles from the gardeners. The garden came to close for the season with the planting of garlic for a July harvest in 2025. Already dreaming about the next growing season.
Through God’s generosity and your volunteering hands, the garden produced 1378 pounds of vegetables donated to the ICA Food Shelf for their distribution to those in need. A big thank you to all the individuals and groups that contributed their time and energy
