Children, Youth & Families
Explore the ways children, youth, and families grow in faith at Oak knoll.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heave belongs to such as these."
Matthew 19:14

Sunday School
Sunday school is held during part of our 9:30 am worship service. Children begin worship with their families in the sanctuary. Immediately after the Children's Message, Sunday schoolers (ages 3 to 5th grade) are invited to join our leader in the Sunday School room. They return in time for communion with their families.
All are welcome, and families may stay if needed.

Dinner & Family Nights
On select Wednesdays, we gather for a shared meal and activity time—a space for family fellowship and a Sunday School deep‑dive across generations. At times, we combine with the confirmation group for joint activities.
Confirmation
Confirmation for 6th–8th graders meets on Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30 pm. We share a meal together (often pizza), enjoy a group song or activity, and spend time in both large‑group learning and small‑group conversation.
Our confirmation program partners with parents, grandparents, and caregivers to help youth grow in their Christian faith as followers of Jesus. Throughout their three years, students serve in various areas of the church and stay engaged in worship through Worship Insights.
After three years of growing in their identity as children of God, we celebrate the Rite of Confirmation on Reformation Sunday of their 9th grade year

We pray through our confirmation ministry our students will:
-
Grow in their relationship with Jesus
-
Learn the stories of Scripture and deepen their understanding of Christian theology
-
Build meaningful relationships with peers and adults in our faith community
-
Develop a strong foundation for lifelong faith and engagement in the church and the world

Youth Events
Confirmation and high school youth are invited to participate in our monthly youth events. We often share a meal of pizza and hang out playing games at church. We also like to throw in some volunteer events and offsite field trips.
Summer Camps
Each summer, our youth head to Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria and Christikon in Montana for meaningful time in community, creation, and faith. Both offer faith-building community, outdoor adventure, and time to grow in God's creation.
We're also looking ahead with excitement of the ELCA National Youth Gathering in 2027.
