Pew Sisters

Monday mornings 9:30-11:00 am, Rose Room

Starts September 14, 2026

Pew Sisters is lay-led group open to all the women of Oak Knoll (though you don’t need to be an Oak Knoll member to join) that uses both book and bible studies during the year.

The group opens each week with a time of sharing and community building, then moves into the study.

Our first study this year will be on the Gospel of Matthew. Of the four gospels, Matthew

is more focused on Jesus’ Jewishness and on the struggle of living under an oppressive

empire. This study may also help to discover the more human side of Jesus, including

his struggles and the ways he was challenged, confronted, and even changed through

his encounters with others.

Curious Readers

Online via email discussion throughout the week

Starts late September

Curious Readers is an online group that studies different theological books throughout

the year. We choose books that are accessible and thought-provoking. Each week we

read a section of the book and then questions are posted to our email group. Over the

course of the week, people answer some or all of the questions, and group discussion

ensues.

Our first book this year will be Richard Rohr’s book, The Divine Dance. The central

question of the book is, how might a better understanding of the Trinity transform our

relationship with God? It is a beautiful, thoughtful, exciting read that is sure to spark

interesting conversation and hopefully a deeper faith.

Bible History Class

Monday nights 7:00-8:30 pm, Rose Room

September 14 - November 9

Through Old Testament Bible reading, historical background readings, Jewish readings, class member participation, and videos, we will look at Old Testament biblical history, including King Solomon, the books of 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah, Esther, and the biblical prophets. This class is for anyone interested in learning about the Old Testament regardless of previous knowledge or experience with the topic or whether you were in the previous class.
