Several facilities projects were completed during the month of June at Oak Knoll.

Sanctuary
The squeaky ceiling fans were replaced in the sanctuary with 3 new very efficient black fans. The fans help to move the air down in the sanctuary, so our HVAC doesn’t have to work so hard. While we had access to a lift for the replacement of the fans, several broken lights were replaced in the sanctuary. If you sit near the baptismal font, you’ve probably noticed it’s a little brighter!
Thanks to Fred Moore and Tom Marshall for helping coordinate this project with moving the pews to use the lift. This project was funded by the operating budget.
Church Office & Preschool Office
Both offices had a security upgrade in May with the addition of an exterior camera and intercom. This allows the office staff to see and speak to people at the door before giving access to the building. This added feature is helpful for the safety of our staff and children in our preschool and child care programs. This upgrade was funded by the operating budget and the Preschool dedicated accounts.
Building Exterior
An outlet was added to the island light pole nearest the columbarium, and an exterior wifi access point was added near the choir entrance. These additions will be helpful during our outdoor services and other outdoor events. This upgrade was funded by the operating budget.
A hole near the top of the steeple where birds were nesting was repaired. This repair was under warranty and no cost to Oak Knoll because the area had been patched a few years ago when squirrels were nesting in the steeple.
Several dying ash trees were removed from the property. The removal was funded by the operating budget.
HVAC
The fan for the two main bathrooms was replaced. The motor had seized up, so a full replacement was needed. The fan replacement was funded by the operating budget.
Rose Room

The bulbs in the Rose Window in the Rose Room had burned out. Ron Colburn and Tom Marshall removed the stained glass and replaced the florescent lights with LED bulbs. More bulbs were added so there is lighting behind the entire window. Supplies for this project were funded by the operating budget. Thanks to our volunteers for their hard work on this project. Stop in the Rose Room and take a look at the beautiful newly lit window!
