The month of September started with classroom visits, where we met our new students and their families. This fall we welcomed 52 families for preschool and/or child care, this is higher enrollment compared to previous years. The first few weeks of school we focused on connecting with our new students and helping them learn about the school routine. We focused on identifying our names in print, or the first letter of our names, along with learning our friends’ names. The children in the Owl classroom started joining in with The Gathering group, a unique multigenerational experience pairing seniors with our preschoolers, sharing music and stories. We ended the month with the Minnetonka Fire Department visiting our program and sharing a special story about fire safety. The highlight of their visit was touring the fire truck.
Over the past few months, we have added new staff to our program. We welcomed Ms. Lillian and Ms. Anu to the Ladybug classroom, and we welcomed Ms. Tiffany to the Butterfly classroom. We have also partnered with Hopkins High School to host a senior student, Ms. Leana, a volunteer working on in-service hours through her community engagement class.

Looking ahead this month, we will continue learning about fall, apples and pumpkins through various science experiments, art projects, small group activities and of course through play. The children will start chapel with Pastor Jay and Vicar Chantel. Lastly, we will end the month with our annual classroom pumpkin parties.
We would like to thank those that have donated to our program last month, as we were the Ministry Partner of the month in September. We also would like to thank church volunteers Tom Marshall and Fred Moore for helping with program repairs and side projects. We are truly blessed to be part this community.
