September was a great month for OKCP!
We welcomed 43 students for preschool and/or child care. We settled into new routines and made new friends. Before our school year began, we hosted open house visits where we were excited to share our classroom spaces and get to know our new and returning families.
We were the Ministry Partner of the Month for September, and collected funds to add to our classroom toys and materials. We had several generous donations, which we are thankful for. In addition, we started Chapel with Pastor Jay and Vicar Bryce, where the children learned about God’s love through music, movement, and a special story. We ended the month of September, with an in-house field trip with the Minnetonka Fire Department visiting our program and letting our preschool friends explore their fire truck while learning about fire safety.
In October the fun will continue as we study the season of fall and learn about apples and pumpkins. Our Owl classroom will be joining the Gathering group the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month to share stories, music and fellowship. The Gathering Group is a group of seniors that are experiencing mid-stage memory loss. This is a wonderful intergenerational opportunity for all participants and we are excited to be a part of it again this year. At the end of the month, our classrooms will participate in pumpkin parties where the children will be able to come to school in costumes, have a special treat with their friends and go on a scavenger hunt.
