December was a joyous month as the children learned about Jesus’ birth and celebrated the season of Christmas. Our classrooms kept busy preparing Christmas gifts for their loved ones and learning new songs that we shared with our families and friends at our Christmas program. Also in December, we hosted a PaperPie bookfair. Thank you to everyone that purchased a book. We also had several books donated to our program. We ended the month before Christmas break, with Santa visiting our classrooms and sharing a special treat with our preschoolers.
In January, we will resume preschool. Our classrooms will embrace the season of winter learning about arctic animals, ice, snow and snowflakes through art activities and science experiments. We will continue to go outside daily as weather permits. Our older preschool classroom will continue joining in the Gathering Group the first and third Thursdays of the month, sharing stories and music with our senior friends.
Lastly, we are looking to add an additional staff person to our team. For the open position, it is not required to have experience. We will mentor and provide training to the right candidate who has a passion for working with young children. This position would include flexible scheduling options in the afternoons, competitive pay, PTO and benefits for those who qualify. If you know of a great potential candidate, or you are interested in the position, please contact Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
