Last month our preschoolers enjoyed studying zoo animals, learning about their habitats, while creating zoo inspired art and attending a virtual field trip to the zoo. We welcomed a local swim school to our program to teach the children about water safety with the help of their mascot Bubbles the fish. The children learned about the importance of wearing a life jacket and always swimming with an adult. We spent extra time outside and enjoyed playing t-ball, having water play outside and riding bikes.
In August, we will continue with our summer yoga and music sessions. We will also enjoy some fun summer themes such as the State Fair, Olympics and fairy tales.
On August 22nd and 23rd, our program will be closed for staff to complete pediatric CPR and OSHA training. Our team of teachers will also be training in other required topics such as behavior guidance, reviewing health policies and program plans.
We will be setting up our classrooms to welcome 48 children and their families for preschool and/ or child care this fall. We will be inviting all families to attend our open house night in early September. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our staff and families to connect. We still have open spots in our youngest classroom, the Ladybugs (2/3 year olds). If you are interested in learning about programming options, it is the perfect time to reach out. Also coming this month, we will be welcoming a NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) assessor to our program. NAEYC is a nationally recognized organization that promotes high standards in the field of early childhood education. To be accredited, a program must meet 10 standards of excellence with teacher prepared portfolios, classroom observations and they will review our program policies and procedures. Our program is currently accredited however, to maintain our accreditation we complete the process every five years.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary this September. More information will be coming soon about our special day.
