Written by Matt Cerar, Music Director
Hello, Oak Knoll! I am thrilled to be starting as the music director here after 10 years of accompanying the choir. I feel so lucky to get to work with the great musicians in this community.
After being in Europe for a few weeks in June, I will be back at the piano/organ in July (with the exception of July 9th). I’m looking forward to accompanying the wonderful cantors that we have for the month of July: including Ed Schneider, Amy Runge, Deborah Heltzer, and Peter Hartfiel.
Speaking of cantors, do you enjoy singing? Do you play an instrument? Both? If so, let me know! We’d love to get more of the congregation involved in music no matter how big or small the commitment may be. Music is a wonderful way to worship and I’d love to include as many folks, as possible. The more, the merrier!
Vocal choir will be starting up rehearsals at the end of August! If you're thinking of singing for the first time, or rejoining after some time away, we’d be thrilled to have you. The choir rehearses Wednesdays during the school year from 7-8:30pm. Please attend as much or as little as you’d like!
Bell choir is also rehearsing this fall. The bell choir rehearses occasionally to bring joyful music to our worship services. For information about Bell Choir this fall, please contact Beth Key at beth.key@pearson.com.
Finally, a special thank you to Larry and Marj Burfiend, for their tireless work in the choir library. And another thank you to Pastor Michele, Pastor Steve, Intern Ben, Linda Strand, Sue Larson, Clay Haapala, and Amy Runge for all they have done to organize worship this summer.
