Music at Oak Knoll - August 2023

Written by Matt Cerar, Music Director

Hello, Oak Knoll! As summer wraps up, we are looking toward a new and exciting season of music.

Beer & Hymns

Mark your calendars for August 30th–a beer & hymns event at Boom Island Brewing in Minnetonka at 7pm! The whole congregation is invited to participate – the brewery is kid-friendly (and dog-friendly). We will sing through some of our favorite hymns, enjoy a brew or two, and build community. Details about the upcoming music season will also be shared. The event will wrap-up by 8:30pm. A sign-up sheet has been placed at the Welcome Table in the Narthex so we can get a rough head count and be sure to have room for everyone. Or you can RSVP to me via email (matt.cerar@oklutheran.org).

The Choir Season Begins!

The choir will officially start rehearsals on Wednesday, September 6th. The choir rehearses Wednesdays during the school year from 7-8:30pm and sings about two Sundays a month. A full year singing schedule will be available by the end of August. Please attend as much or as little as you’d like! If easier, you can choose to participate for a few months to try it out:

September–October (ending with All Saint’s Sunday on November 5th)

November–December (ending with Christmas eve)

January–March (ending with Easter)

April–May (ending with Pentecost)

Bell Choir

Bell choir is also rehearsing this fall. The bell choir rehearses occasionally to bring joyful music to our worship services. For information about Bell Choir this fall, please contact Beth Key at beth.key@pearson.com.

Special Music

August will feature the return of Yvonne Grover at the organ while I am out mid-August. She and I are looking forward to accompanying the wonderful cantors that we have for the month of August including Erika Vickerman, Amy Runge, Deborah Heltzer, and special music from Intern Pastor Ben Dyrhaug. In addition, the bell choir will join us for special music on August 20th.
