Hello! I’m Bryce Bommersbach (he, him) and I am so very excited and grateful to be starting as Vicar with you all for the coming year. I recently moved from the Bay Area of California in Berkeley where I attended seminary at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, a member school of the Graduate Theological Union. However, I grew up and went to college 5 hours away in Grand Forks, ND where I studied Social Work at the University of North Dakota, so I am grateful to be “back” and closer to family and friends.
My Social Work studies included an internship as a Case Manager for Women, Children, and Veterans experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, so principles such as rapport and self-determination influence much of my own theology and ministry. Following college, I had an incredibly impactful opportunity to live in Mahajanga, Madagascar as a volunteer with the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission program. This is due to the relationship between the ELCA and the Malagasy Lutheran Church where volunteers are invited to live in accompaniment and interdependence with a Malagasy community to participate in congregational life and teach English.
When I’m not contemplating the theological universe, I can be found at nearby state or national park with my girlfriend, Alexis, or trying a new baking recipe I found on Youtube —open to any and all recipes you like!
I am eager to meet and learn what makes this place special for you.
Peace,
Vicar Bryce Bommersbach
