Hello! My name is Bryce and I am so very grateful to be joining the Oak Knoll community as the next Intern Pastor. While I have been living and going to seminary in Berkeley, CA at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary for the past 3 years, I am originally from Grand Forks, ND, so I am somewhat familiar with the area and I look forward to learning more with you all.
The church has been at the core of my vocational call and identity which has led to awesome opportunities to be involved in campus, outdoor, and global ministry where I spent close to a year (because Covid…) living and working with a Lutheran community in Mahajanga, Madagascar as a Young Adult in Global Mission with the ELCA. Prior to this I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s in Social Work which involved an internship working as a Case Manager for women, children, and veterans that were or were at risk of being homeless. Throughout college I also worked at a children’s group home as a Direct Support staff for 6 years, so values such as rapport and self-determination influence much of my own theology and ministry.
When I’m not contemplating the theological universe at school or church, I can often be found doing so at a nearby state or national park with my partner, Alexis. One positive that COVID has brought has been my newfound passion for baking so I am taking any and all suggestions for the next potluck!
Looking forward to meeting you all in August!
Peace,
Bryce Bommersbach
