CYF Faith Formation Update

Written by Christina Black, Children, Youth, & Family Ministry Director

Sunday School Dinner & Family Time

Sunday schoolers and their families once again enjoyed a mixing of the ages with a shared dinner during Wednesday night confirmation. After, we headed as a group to listen to the Bible story of Jesus Healing 10 Men. The theme was being thankful. Everyone made a family thankful turkey and the kids enjoyed making—and eating—a turkey cookie. Our next Dinner & Family Time will be January 10th.

Fruit of the Spirit Milestone

Congratulations to our first-grade friends Elliana Burns and Emme Larson for receiving their

Fruits of the Spirit book Maybe God Is Like That Too. In this book a young boy asks his grandma where God is in their city. She invites him to pay attention to where he sees the fruits of the Spirit. It is our hope that when these kids read this story, they will also learn that where there is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, there too is God.

Packing Meals

After a quick bite to eat at a nearby pizza joint, the youth headed over to Feed My Starving Children to help pack meals for children in need.

A Variety of Yummy Pies

There were plenty of tasty pies and lots of good company at the Movie and Pie Night the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Garfield’s Thanksgiving and a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving played on the screen, while we all enjoyed our treats.

Holiday Bake Sale—Order by December 3rd!

The youth are once again holding a holiday bake sale to raise funds for summer 2024 Luther Crest camp and the ELCA Youth Gathering! We are taking pre-orders now through December 3rd. Pick up will be on December 10th after worship service. You can pick up a paper order form at the welcome desk or fill out an online order form.

Calling all shepherds and angels

As we have for years, we are looking for children to play shepherds and angels during the Christmas Eve services. There are no speaking roles. They are just asked to dress up in provided costumes and walk in during the Christmas reading. All aged children are welcome. Sign up to participate!
