CYF Faith Formation Update

Written by Christina Black, Children, Youth, & Family Ministry Director

May Day Baskets

At the end of April, we held our last Dinner & Family Night. As part of our evening, we spent time putting together May Day baskets for participants of the Gathering. The kids did a great job decorating the baskets and writing nice notes.

Jonah and the Good Samaritan

No, I’m not getting my Bible stories mixed up…these were the winners of the Bible story bracket challenge on the last day of Sunday school. We reviewed all the stories we discussed this year (including the Prodigal Son, the Great Commission, Parable of the Fig Tree, Jesus’ Baptism, and many more), and we picked our favorite. It came down to Jonah and the Prodigal Son. Jonah was the winner. BUT…the kids reminded me that I forgot to include the Good Samaritan story. And they all agreed that it was their favorite. It was a good last message for the year—be kind and do good to others! We all enjoyed ice cream sundaes after worship service.

That's a Wrap on Confirmation

We held our end-of-year Confirmation celebration in conjunction with the neighborhood meal. After, we had some fun parachute time as a large group, small group time, and of course ice cream!

Parents' Night Out - Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraiser. The youth had a great time playing with the kids.

5th Grade Milestone

Our fifth graders did a fantastic job sharing their favorite story/memory/activity from their Sunday school years. Be sure to check out their creations on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall! Next year, they will move on to confirmation.

2025 Seniors

We say a special thanks and a prayer for our graduating seniors, Corinne Foss, Alan Gardner, Devon Kantola-Bosch, Carter Moore, Berit Peterson, and Dylan Rippberger

We will celebrate our seniors in worship on June 1st. Each senior will receive “We Rise Higher,” a book of poems and prayers for graduates by Joe Davis. Our hope is that they turn to these words of inspiration throughout their lives and are reminded of their identity in Christ, that they are God’s Beloved Children, and that wherever they go Christ goes with them.

We also hope that it reminds them that we, Oak Knoll Lutheran Church, are their brothers and sisters in Christ—and that we are always here to support and encourage them in life and their faith journey.

Congratulations!
