Greetings to Oak Knoll members and friends!
We had our September council meeting this past week and it was 82 degrees on my walk up to that meeting. It looks like fall but doesn’t feel like it . . .yet!
It was fun to welcome Vicar Jennifer into our midst and share all the updates of our busy September, celebrating God’s Work, Our Hands, our 20th preschool anniversary, and 20 years with Pastor Michele. So many things are kicking off this fall and it is an exciting time.
We discussed our Generosity Team and their work upcoming this fall. It is good to think of ways we can enhance and grow our church community.
A properties update noted a need for a new oven for the kitchen and new ceiling fans for the sanctuary. The roof is hopefully about to get started!
We feel grateful for and are celebrating paying off the church debt and being “in the black” all summer which is the slowest time for the church. We are grateful for estate gifts from church members recently lost and are determining with their families the best use of these gifts.
We have new member classes going on and new members to welcome just before October hits, and are looking forward to our volunteer dinner October 8th as well as our upcoming neighborhood meals on October 30th and December 10th.
I am personally grateful for all of our dedicated council members who show up with documents, devotions, treats and support and ideas of how to care for our church. How wonderful it is to live in a faith community.
Blessings,
Erika Vickerman
