Circle of Welcome Invitation

Circle of Welcome is a program through Lutheran Social Services of MN to walk with a refugee family as friends, supporters, and advocates to help them become established more quickly in the Twin Cities.

Pastor Jay and Suzanne Rudi along with Liz and Andy Anema have committed to be part of the Oak Knoll team. We are looking for two other couples or families to participate in this ministry for a one-year commitment. As a team, we will take turns connecting with the family, spending time with them as we and they are available and helping them acclimate to their new community.

Activities with the family may include setting up furniture, helping adults find employment, practice their English, and running errands. In our work with a previous refugee family the Oak Knoll team took our family to the Como Zoo, to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, to the Mall of America, to the laundromat, and to many parks.

We’re excited to move forward and connect with a family. Our friendship and support can make all the difference in helping refugees new to MN become well-connected to their home.

Please contact Pastor Jay, pastor.jay@oklutheran.org, with questions or to get involved in making a difference in the life of a new refugee family!!
