A Gathering Place for Stories

Written by Stephen Murray, Streaming Director

ree

When I ask someone to share a story for The Knoll Podcast, they are usually surprised. “Why me?” they ask. “There’s nothing special about me.” A week later, however, they’ll come back and ask how to get set up to record and when we do record, they share story that is both profound and simple. Like the little bits of wisdom you’d hear if you were catching up with a friend and sharing a cup of coffee.

That’s how I view The Knoll. It’s a kind of communal kitchen table where we can come together and share our stories, lift up our memories and experiences so that everyone can share in each other’s joys and struggles. It’s a way to get to know the person sitting next to you in the pew that you’ve never really talked to, or to learn something deeper about someone you have known for years.

The Knoll Mobile Station

Now, I know everyone may not have a five-minute story to share. That’s ok, your voice can still be part of this project!

We’re starting a new program in November. After worship on November 9th, 16th and 23rd, I will be wheeling a mobile recording studio into Fellowship Hall after worship. Please stop by and record a greeting or a few thoughts on the service or on what happened to you this week. Even if you don’t have any specific ideas, please stop by so we can add to the voices featured in The Knoll.
