We kicked off summer last month with our fun summer enrichment classes. This summer we are hosting yoga and music classes for our child care children. In yoga, the children are learning several different yoga poses, positive self talk and mindful breathing. We were blessed to have one of our families donate 20 children sized yoga mats for our summer program. In music, we are learning about several different genres of music, exploring musical concepts such as tempo and rhythm while singing and playing musical instruments. In addition to our summer enrichment classes, our older child care friends are continuing to partner up with The Gathering group twice a month to share stories, music and special activities.
Summer also brings fun themes to explore! We are busy learning about sea life, pirates and camping. Some highlights last month included taking care of our sharing garden and sampling some of the new vegetables growing. We also enjoyed spending extra time outside riding our bikes and learning how to play t-ball in the field.
In July we will continue with yoga and music. We will also learn about the summer Olympics and introduce the children to new “summer games.” We also are looking forward to having water days at school where we can set up the water tables and sprinklers. With our new shade addition to the playground, we are ready for the warm and sunny days!
Looking ahead, we still have open preschool and child care spots for children ages 2-3 with different scheduling options available. If you are interested in learning about our program, please reach out to Kathryn Glorvick at preschool@oklutheran.org.
