The Lutheran Church takes it name from the sixteenth-century leader of the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther. Luther’s primary insight about the Gospel was that God loves us unconditionally -- which means that forgiveness of sins and salvation are gracious gifts from God, they are not earned by anything we do ourselves. In response to God’s gracious gifts of salvation and forgiveness, our thankful response is to reach out and care for our neighbors.
Lutherans center their worship life on the Word of God as revealed in both the Scriptures and the sacraments of baptism and holy communion. We believe that through them God penetrates our lives with forgiveness of sins, new life and salvation. Lutherans believe the most essential aspect of evangelism is living the Word of God.
Lutherans believe in the authority of the Bible and that the Word of God is the source of all that we teach and believe.
We believe that each of us is called to do God’s work in the midst of our daily lives.
Lutherans are known for providing service to those in need and for their love of great music and hymns.
