Celebration Christos

Sunday School Begins September 16th!

Here at Oak Knoll we want to celebrate our lives in Christ through learning, through relationships with each other and through experiencing Jesus in a personal way.

Since "Christ" is in our name, this year all of our Sunday School programs with include the word "Christos", Greek for anointed, referring to Christ. Thus, we introduce a new name for our Sunday School and Christian Education – Celebration Christos, and some new programs to boot!

Cradle Christos – a new program designed for babies up to 3 year old.

Plans are currently underway to provide faith formation resources for families with young children including ideas for:

  • Faith filled play, worship, meals & prayer
  • Fellowship opportunities in our community

More to come later on this new ministry

Celebration Christos – is our Sunday program for children 3 years old through 3rd grade

Celebration Christos is scheduled between worship services beginning at 9:30 and ending at 10:05 am

  • For 3-year olds, It will provide a more traditional format – providing individual classrooms with their own adult teachers and youth helpers.
  • For children 4 yeas old through 3rd grade, we ill once again use the Rotational Method for learning where children experience the same Bible story though various discovery zones:
    • art
    • drama
    • cooking
    • science experiments
    • music.

These groups will begin in the chapel to introduce the theme for the day (9:30-9:40am) and proceed to the Discover Zones (9:40-10:00am), and end up again in the chapel for closing (10:00 – 10:05 am). Parents are to pick up their children in the chapel.     We also welcome our 4th, 5th and 6th graders as helpers for Celebration Christos.

Christos Quest – is a new program designed for 4th, 5th and 6th grade children intended to capture their quest for deeper relationships with each other and especially with Christ.

Instead of meeting on Sunday mornings, this group will generally meet once on month on the third Saturday from 4:00-6:00 pm.

  • This will be an active group – involved in service projects, times of fellowship, and times of fun and always times for delving in the Scripture for deep questions of faith.
  • Many plans for adventures are already in place.

We will kick off our new program of Christos Quest with a camp out at Oak Knoll on Saturday, September 29th through September 30th.
