PRESCHOOL NEWS - MAY 2012

OAK KNOLL CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL

MAY NEWS, 2012

5 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASS

Our 5 year old enrichment class will be learning about the letter “C” for cookies, caterpillars, and cats; “B” for bees, boats, birds, and bugs; the letter “D” for ducks and dinosaurs. The Art Show is scheduled for May 19th, with the end of the year picnic on Thursday, May 24.

The illustrator of the month will be Stephen Gammell.   We will also to getting our garden beds ready for planting.

4 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL CLASS
During the month of May our 4 year old friends will be learning about apple blossoms, dogs, butterflies, bees, bubbles, Cinco de Mayo, and the bike rodeo.

3 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL CLASS
The 3 year old friends will be learning about Caterpillars and Butterflies, frogs, bubbles, Egypt and Cinco de Mayo.

2 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL CLASS
2 year old friends will have fun learning about  Mom, Spring, bugs, and flowers,

CHILDREN’S CHAPEL
Our Chapel stories will be “The Good Samaritan” and “Go and tell the good news.”

LUNCH BUNCH
Lunch Bunch is cancelled for the last week of May – Monday, May 21, Tuesday, May 22,  Wednesday, May 23, Thursday, May 24, Friday, May 25, and Tuesday, May 15

FESTIVAL OF NATIONS FOR 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD CLASSES
3 and 4 year old preschool old friends will gather for a celebration on May 16th – the Festival of Nations.   The children will be singing some songs, doing a little dance and showing off things they have learned and made during the past year. Children should be in their classrooms by 6:15 p.m. and the families can gather in the Fellowship Hall.

We do need help with the snacks – please sign up to bring something to help with the healthy snacks we would like to share that night. The Sign-up sheet is by the door of the preschool classroom. Thank you.

                        ART SHOW Parents of the 5 year old preschool friends are invited to come an “ART SHOW” on Thursday, May 17th,                                                 11:00 a.m. You will get to see the projects that the children have created during the year. Mrs. Pettersen will be           
                                 there to talk with you about the projects. Your children will be there to show you what they have created. Thank you for
                        coming to share in this special time with your child.

BIKE RODEO

3 and 4 year old friends are invited to bring their bikes, trikes, scooters to preschool on Wednesday, May 23rd. Bring riding toys when you come to preschool in the morning and leave them in the area designated on the parking lot. The children will have fun riding with their friends. Thank you for your participation. Shelby Keeley’s dad is a policeman and he will be with us to help us learn the rules of the road!!!

 

PLANT SALE
Thank you to those of you who purchased plants from our Gertens plant and vegetable sale. They will be available for pick up on Saturday, May 19th between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the preschool hallway. Your purchase of plants will help us with scholarships andadding to our playground.

DO YOU LOVE TO GARDEN? WE NEED YOU!!
Our friends in the 5 year old class are going to paint and plant. They have worms and compost to use. They would love to have some other adult helpers. Please talk to Mrs. Pettersen if you have time to help us. Thank you!!!               

BRING ANNUALS TO PLANT
Everyone is invited to bring an annual to plant in the garden boxes on Monday, May 14 or Tuesday, May 15. Thank you.

 

END OF THE YEAR PICNICS
End of the year picnics will be held the last week of school. Please bring lunch for you and your child and a blanket. We will eat on the playground and the children will have playing with their friends.

                                                                2 year olds – Friday, May 25th, 11:00 a.m.

                                                3 year olds – Thursday, May, 24th, 11:00 a.m.

                                                4 year olds – Friday, May 25th, 11:00 a.m.

                                                5 year olds – Tuesday, May 24th, 11:00 a.m.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
May 7 through 11 is Teacher Appreciation Week at Oak KnollPreschool. NO GIFTS PLEASE!!! Please send cards to your Teacher telling her what she has meant to your child this year.

REGISTRATION FOR FALL PRESCHOOL AND SUMMER FUN
Registration for Fall Preschool with Extended Care and Summer Fun Preschool continues. We have spots available in preschool classes, but they are filling up. Please register ASAP. We are taking registrations for Summer Fun which will take place during three weeks of August.  Registration and payments are due by June 1
st. Forms are available on the table in the Preschool hallway.                   

                        THANK YOU
                                 Thank you for sharing all the great snacks during the preschool year. They were delicious and they were healthy. Thank you                                  for helping us provide healthy snacks for your children.

                        SUNSCREEN
                                 If there are sunny days in May, and we certainly hope that we will  have sunny days, please apply sunscreen on your child                                     before they come to preschool in the morning. Thank you.

LAST DAY OF PRESCHOOL

Our last day of preschool is Friday, May 25th. We thank all of you for a great year. Thank you for sharing your children with us. Blessings to you!!!
