SUPPORT GROUPS

  • The Gathering (Alzheimer’s Respite Care) – Oak Knoll is part of the Lyngblomsten sponsored program to offer support to people and families dealing with early to mid-stage memory loss. We offer The Gathering Program Twice a month. The program provides:

o   Renewal for those experiencing early to mid-stage memory loss (participants) – offering them a variety of stimulating activities with a specially trained group of volunteers to engage their minds and bodies.

o   Replenishment for their loved ones – allowing them a scheduled time to do errands, visit with a friend or simply rest – knowing their loved one safe and happy.

o   Rejuvenation for both participants and their care givers after a day spend away from their normal routines.

If you would like more information on the Gathering, call Lyngblomsten at 651-414-5291

  • Memory Loss Caregiver Support Group – This Group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 10:00 at the Church.  This is an opportunity for caregivers to support and share their feelings and experiences in a setting of love and caring.
  • AA Meetings – Plymouth Alano II has regular meetings at Oak Knoll, including a meeting every day at noon. There is a separate entrance for these meetings at the rear of the building on the west side of the church. For a listing of meeting times, check the door of the AA entrance, call 952-922-0880 or go to: www.aampls.org and look for Oak Knoll Lutheran Church.

  • Grief Coalition | Oak Knoll is one of the fifteen sponsoring churches of the West Suburban Grief Coalition. The mission of the Coalition is to assist the grieving in understanding their loss experience in a caring, safe and non-threatening atmosphere.

The group rotates meeting places each quarter among the member churches. To find the current location, or learn more about the group contact Cindy Hilbrands at (763) 475-7124.  Newcomers are welcome at any time, there are no fees associated with participation.  Click on the following link for Speaker schedule .
